Pregnancy & Maternity — FAQ
Ideally, your first antenatal visit should be within the first 8–10 weeks of pregnancy — as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. Early booking allows Dr. Rashmi T N to confirm the pregnancy, check for any early risks, and begin your personalised care plan.
Normal delivery is a vaginal birth without epidural pain relief. Painless delivery (epidural analgesia) is also a vaginal delivery, but an anaesthetic is administered through a thin tube in the lower back to significantly reduce the sensation of contractions. Both are safe — the right choice depends on your health, preferences, and how labour progresses.
Typically, 3–4 key scans are recommended: a dating scan in the first trimester, the NT scan around 11–14 weeks, the anomaly scan at 18–20 weeks, and a growth scan in the third trimester. Additional scans may be advised for high-risk pregnancies or if any concerns arise.
A pregnancy may be considered high-risk due to maternal age (under 18 or over 35), pre-existing conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or thyroid disorders, a history of pregnancy complications, multiple pregnancies, or conditions that develop during pregnancy such as gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia.
GarbhaGruha offers comprehensive postnatal care including follow-up consultations for the mother, wound care after C-section or episiotomy, breastfeeding and lactation counselling, postpartum mood support, contraception counselling, and guidance on infant care and nutrition.
